I like this color a lot! I just wish the older examples of S5's were more reliable (I realize your picture is an RS model). That damn timing chain guide! Although I suppose the 3.0 supercharged isn’t a bad engine at all, responds well to tunes, but I want that v8! I suppose an older RS5 would have the metal guides... Maybe I’ll wait for those to come down in price.
And there’s my stream of consciousness every time I see an RS5.

I once saw it on an RS4, I can confirm it’s as awesome in real life as in this picture

Green is the best car color and you wont and can’t (pretty much technically impossible ) convince me otherwise.

Not sure if the S5 is available in Sonoma...the 2018 palette has Gotland Green for the S5, and Sonoma is RS5 only.

haha I bet! I’ve further complicated things by taking a liking to V10 S6's.

Having pondered getting a V8 Audi and researched the issue somewhat; I wouldn’t let it stop you. I would just go into it eyes wide open and knowing the service is coming down the pipeline. It’s almost never a catastrophic failure, you get warning signs, and the engines post-2005 have more durable guides. You could also just buy an enthusiast owned car that did it pre-emptively.

I’ve already told my wife my next daily is going to be the RS5 Sportback. I’ll worry about affording it later.

Yeah, I suppose if you are shopping used there would be a fair amount of them out there that have a recent chain guide replacement.

Dark green and dark blue are fighting for first. Metallic orange is a close second.

I know that feeling too, had a few laps on a track in a V10 R8. Why do we do this to ourselves?

I can say I have a V10, my car sounds like it has a V10 and powaaaaa! Aaaaand I’m out. It’s that simple, haha. I really think it’s like 85% the sound of that V10, as far as me wanting an S6. It’s actually slower than my tuned SHO. But I want that sound.

That color yes...
But they have been building this car for a long time, and it hasn’t gotten better looking, actually the opposite.
And none of them are THIS.
350-ish HP/Tq. (Turbo i4 or various V6) + 6MT + real Quattro AWD + Tq. Vectoring (side to side) and Biasing (back to front) + 3-door fastback hatch with 3 fold-flat seats, + elegantly simple, but not junk interior + appropriate price for good tech, but not extravagant luxury or rare/expensive build materials.
This should have been the A4-paired SPORT COUPE, and A5 should have gone up-market to compete with E-class Mercedes and BMW 6-series Grand Touring Coupes .

My theory is, almost all cars look great in green, many cars look their best in green. But there are cars out there that look their best in colors other than green, but again, they still look great in green.

I sat in an RS5 Sportback in green at the Seattle auto show last week...it is a very nice car in a very, very nice color.

I keep looking at these green Corsa VXRs.
It’s not my usual sort of car, but I want one.
The colour, the lines, the look yet still compact and practical.
The emerald green of the Astra GTC VXR is nice but in the viper green metallic, it’d look great.

I mean, I guess if I had to take the S5 Sportback
in Gotland, that’d be okay.
